Abstract
The Sirzar antimony deposit in Torb Jam County, Razavi Khorasan Province is located in the Binalod zone. The dominant lithology in the Sirzar antimony mining area includes sedimentary (limestone), ophiolite, metamorphic (schist), volcanic (tuffite) rocks and a small amount of intrusive mass (granite). Mineralization has occurred in the form of veins within the joints and fractures of limestone rocks. According to mineralogical studies, stibnite mineralization with galena, chalcopyrite, iron oxide and hydroxide minerals, malachite, azurite and waste minerals of quartz, barite and calcite forms the mineral paragenesis. The presence of void-filling, veinlet, foliation, replacement and blade textures is evident in this area. Geochemical data of igneous and metamorphic rocks of the region indicate a calc-alkaline origin related to a subduction environment. The enrichment of LILE elements (e.g. Rb, Th) and depletion of HFSE (e.g. Nb, Ti) in the spider diagrams, together with a REE pattern similar to rocks of active continental margins, support the formation of these rocks in a magmatic arc related to the subduction of oceanic crust beneath the Binalud zone. Also, the positive correlation of antimony with barium and lead with silver indicates the role of hydrothermal fluids of deep origin (possibly related to regional metamorphism or magmatic activity) in the transport and concentration of elements. The similarity of the normalized earth element pattern of the Sirzar antimony ore with metamorphic rocks indicates the origin of the metamorphic fluid of the deposit.
