Abstract

The studied area is located in the northern slope of Eastern Alborz, between the Khazar and North Alborz faults and includes four main thrust faults with an east-west to an N70-90 Trend. The important faults in the region are the Khazar, North Alborz (Drazno and Radkan) and Balazardin faults, all of them have mainly thrusting mechanisms. Examining the thrust direction of these faults shown that the Khazar and Derazeno faults have south-dip which caused to northward thrusting, while, the Radkan and Balazardin faults a north-dip make happened to southward thrusting. The investigation on kinematics axes demonstated that 3 stages movement occurred: (1) the oldest-stage of movement towards the south, which was recorded in the metamorphosed Plaeo-Tethyian remnant, (2) the P-axis towards the north at the interval between the Derazno- Radkan-Balazerandin faults, which can be introduced as the 2th stage of movement. Also, the Push-up structure which caused a uplift in the northern slope of Alborz and were created by the simultaneous activity of the back-thrust fault and main thrust fault, (3) the last movement stage identified into Quaternary age on the Khazar fault with north-east movement.
