Abstract
For this purpose, the facies and sedimentary environment of Asmari Formation, as the youngest rock of the Zagros Reservoir in Iran, are evaluated in three stratigraphic sections in thefolded and high Zagros in the inner Fars region as Ahmadi anticline, Kuh Deh No and Charm Sefid sections. In this study, based on field data and data extracted from 760 thin sections, 9 facies in Asmari Formation have been identified which are related to four sedimentary environments: two facies related to tidal flat environment, three facies related to lagoonal environment, Two facies related to the barrier environment, three facies related to the open sea environment. These facies are deposited on a ramp-type carbonate platform. The different sedimentary environments identified in these sections, the hemoclinical carbonate ramp and distally steeped ramp, indicate the different deposition conditions in these sections.
The different sedimentary environments identified in these sections, the hemoclinical carbonate ramp and distally steeped ramp, indicate the different deposition conditions in these sections. The lower Asmari in the sections studies in less thiek than the middle and upper parts, and this indicaties the higer sedimentation in Aquitanian_Burdigalian compared to the Rupelian_shatian.
