Abstract
The study areas are part of the Iran-Turkey Plateau and are located in the central part of the Arabian-Eurasian collision zone. The basaltic volcanic units studied are located in northwestern Iran and East Azerbaijan Province and are of Plio-Quaternary age according to stratigraphic evidence. These lavas have a composition of basalt, andesite-basalt, trachybasalt, basalt-trachyandesite and trachyandesite. Their main minerals include plagioclase, pyroxene, olivine, amphibole and minor minerals include apatite, quartz and opac minerals. In rock samples, the textures of the rocks are diverse and include microlithic porphyritic, hyaloporphyric, porphyritic and trachytic textures. Thermobarometric calculations have been performed for the minerals olivine, plagioclase, pyroxene and amphibole. Thermobarometric calculations show of pyroxene mineral in trachybasalt and trachyandesite-basaltic rocks in the study areas of Zandabad, Nahar, Gangalabad, Siah-Kalan, Marzroud and Kaleybar: temperature 1016-1226.07°C and pressure 3-13 kbar, for plagioclase mineral in trachybasalt and trachyandesite-basaltic rocks in the study areas of Zandabad, Nahar, Gangalabad, Siah-Kalan, Laleh-Bajan, Marzroud and Kalibar: temperature 1176-1249.90°C and pressure 10-15 kbar, for amphibole mineral in trachyandesite and trachyandesite-basaltic rocks in the study areas of Zandabad, Laleh-Bajan, Marzroud and Kalibar: temperature 954.87-733.37°C and pressure 10.06-13.5 kbar, and for olivine mineral in olivine-basaltic rocks in Nahar and Gangalabad areas, the temperature is 1261.97-1337°C. The results of barometric calculations of pyroxene and amphibole indicate crystallization at medium pressures, equivalent to the middle-lower crust, and barometric calculations of plagioclase indicate crystallization at greater depths, equivalent to the Earth's mantle.
