Kaolinite clay deposit of Chah-Aliakbar in the structural zone of central Iran, in the northern part of Tabas Block and 65 kilometers northwest of Tabas Golshan city, in the form of stratabound and on the border between Khan formation and Sorkh Shale formation and in PermoTriassic Composed. The shales and sandstones located at the base of the last limestone layer of the Khan Formation (Jolfin age) host the minerals of this deposit. Mineralogical results show the presence of kaolinite, hematite and quartz minerals as main minerals and anatase, rutile as secondary minerals in the ore of the deposit, among which kaolinite is considered as a mineral with economic value. Conducting geochemical studies on the ore samples of the Chah-Aliakbar deposit and displaying the resulting data on the graph shows a chemical alteration index (CIA) more than 80% for these samples, which shows the strong performance of the process. Chemical weathering is in the initial stages of the formation of this deposit, as it has resulted in the removal of unstable cations (K+, Na+ and Ca2+) and the transformation of unstable components into stable clay minerals such as kaolinite. The obtained results indicate that this deposit was deposited in a marine environment and due to the transfer of fine clay particles to the colloidal form is caused by running water. Also, the effective role of waves in an energetic coastal environment in the formation of this deposit can be considered important.
