Abstract

In this study, generation potential and thermal maturation have been studied by using 1D sedimentary Basin Modeling and Rock-Eval analyesis of 32 cutting samples of drilled formations inside well number 1 of Tabnak gas field. According to the resulting Tmax and Ro values, samples are immature for generating hydrocarbons and results of the model approves this hypothesis. Using constant heat flow of 34.80 mW/m2 for present time to middle Cretaceous interval and 60 mW/m2 for middle Cretaceous to Ordovician Interval, the best fit with Correction parameters of inside well temperature and Ro has been obtained. Using TOC and HI values for Sarchahan Formation, the model recognized Sarchahan Formation is the main source rock of hydrocarbons inside the study area and also determined that oil generation started at 5Ma ago and in the present time this formation has an over mature condition. Using results of Modelling one can determine amount of in-situ Hydrocarbon accumulations and plan for development strategy of the field. Also determination of main source rock will be a great help in studying of nearby fields and Coastal Fars region.
