Abstract

The Zagros region of Iran is known as one of the most seismically active regions of the world. At the central part of this region, Kazerun fault system (including Kazerun, Borazjan, and Dena faults) is located with a right-lateral strike slip mechanism and in a right-step pattern. In this research, based on the analysis of well-located seismic data, the seismicity interactions of this group of faults were assessed. The spatio-temporal analysis of seismicity and the assessment of seismic activity migrations indicate that Kazerun and Borazjan faults as well as Kazerun and Kare Bas fault systems show strong seismicity interactions. Additionally, this research attempts to reveal the role of the geometry and mechanism of fault systems in seismicity interactions.
