Abstract

Investigation on the spring hydrograph is a widely used methods in karst hydrogeology. Determination of hydrodynamic behavior and management of quality and quantity of the karst spring could be resulted using this method. In addition to the conventional methods, the spring hydrograph of Dime and Pireghar Springs were analyzed using recursive digital filters approach. Computed Base Flow Index (BFI) using chemo-graph was considered as criteria for selecting of the best recursive digital filters. The results show that the Eckhardt digital filter presents reliable performance in both of the springs. Average of BFI were computed 0.9 and 0.61 for Dime and Pireghar Springs, respectively. The contribution of new recharged water are about 12% and 33% in Dime and Pireghar Springs, respectively, based on the time variation of rainfall, discharge and concentration of Ca2+. The results reveal higher contribution of conduit flow and karst development in Pireghar Spring in comparison of Dime Spring.
