Abstract

The active deformation of Mokhtaran area(eastern Iran) is recognized by distributed the Esmaeilabad strike slip fault termination blind thrusts and Giv– Mokhtaran strike slip fault system in the NW trending south of the Bagharan kuh mountains. The spatial distribution of earthquake epicentres in a rose diagram derived from fry analysis is confirm activation of the Giv fold system and existence of E-W trending Comparison of mapping of the fractal dimension of the active faults and earthquake epicentres show activity of linear seismogenic source in the NW- SE trending. It is likely formation of asperity at the end of the termination splays and the Giv fold system segments to study the mapping of the b value. For evaluation of the active deformation and seismic hazard area should be considered the E-W basement faults( Left lateral shearing and rotation) in operation.
