Abstract

The Ghaderabad iron deposit is located in Khalifan district, Northeast of Mahabad, which occurs concordantly within the rhyolitic rocks (equivalent to the Kahar formation). This area has undergone many important changes during geological events and crustal development. Investigations show that the study area is located in a ductile shear zone. The ore body and host rocks are influenced by later deformation processes forming mylonitic fabrics. Based on microstructures evidence, deformation occurred at low temperature (below 400ºC). The major parts of iron is added into the basin by hydrothermal solutions. Ductile shear zone and milonitization played an important role in enrichment of iron oxides in this deposit.
